I never thought I would be excited over something like this, because it's so "not me", but I can't help it! I think I actually enjoyed grocery shopping today for the first time ever. Check out my receipt from grocery shopping today! I saved $167.52 by buying what's on sale, 50% off the total cost! I am so proud. I have heard that it can be done, I have seen some do it, I just have never done it. Living in my neighborhood has taught me some great things. Listening to these savvy women and taking their advice when it comes to buying groceries, food storage, etc. has literally paid off! When I first got married this sweet lady would go through all the grocery ads to teach me what's a good price so I could meal plan---thanks Marie, and if you could see me now--I've got it!

Glamour Girl

Today we went to Nordstrom. I needed more of my favorite MAC products. I'm being rung up, and I turn to check on the kids, and there is our little Seery sitting on a stool at the Bobbi Brown makeup counter, totally at ease, helping herself to some blush! She put it on correctly, but unfortunately happened to look like a clown! So we get home from shopping and I am getting dinner ready. Seery is being awfully quiet, this is never a good sign. I then find she had gotten into my MAC bag and pulled out all my products, she was very excited to make herself "look pretty". The top picture is the result--Vive Glam V lipstick all over her mouth! So I gave her a good scrubbing in the bath, all traces of Bobbi Brown & MAC makeup were gone. She decided to wear her "Sparkly Hannah Montana" nightgown complete with an eye mask to bed tonight! And yes, she can totally sleep with the eye mask on! I forget is she 2 or 16?

Our Week in Review

So, I have not posted anything in the last week because of my "oh so lovely" experience with the dentist last week. Actually, the day before that I saw my surgeon, another follow-up visit, to check the progress from last year's jaw surgery. Sad to report that it seems that the tissue in my jaw has thinned, and it appears that bone loss is occurring and I will have more surgery. The next day I saw my dentist to get a crown for a back molar. Unfortunately, more decay was underneath the old filling, and my tooth was severely infected. They kept saying "How were you living with this pain?". Since my jaw injury, I am always in pain, and couldn't tell the difference with anything new. So I had an emergency root canal that took 2 days to do because they couldn't get the tooth to stop bleeding. The worst root canal possible since I have 4 canals going into that tooth instead of 3. Yuck! Then they hand me the bill for over $2000 and I want to hurl. Can't decide what's worse... the root canal or the bill? So last week was not fun, but the antibiotics have kicked in and I feel a lot better. I laugh because I didn't realize how much the tooth hurt until it felt better!

St. Patrick's Day was so fun. We had our big traditional Irish dinner with family the day before since everyone was working on Monday night. Aidan went to school on St. Paddy's Day and was was so happy when I picked him up. He told me that a leprechaun had come to his classroom to bring the kids gold chocolate coins, but that he was very sneaky and fast so they didn't even see him come in the classroom to deliver the chocolate treats! I LOVE this age! They are old enough to understand what's going on and young enough to believe everything you tell them.

I took the kids shopping for David's presents and everything went pretty well. At least it was going fine until we got to Kohl's. Our little Seery is too grown up for 2. I finally gave in and said I would buy her Hannah Montana nightgown. She loves Hannah. She sings and dances to "Nobody's Perfect" like you wouldn't believe. Anyways, we got to the shoe department to buy Aidan new shoes to go with his Easter outfit. Seery was right next to us. I look for the box that is Aidan's size. I look back and Seery is gone. We frantically call her name and look through all the aisles of shoes. She isn't there. I'm thinking, how far could she have gone, she's 2. I tell a cashier I can't find her. "Code Yellow" is called for the store and it is now in lock down, no one can come in or out of the store. (I was very impressed with their protocol.) They tell me to stay there at the front, not to look for her so they can find me. 30 seconds later there comes Seery around the corner. I run to her, pick her up, tell her I'm glad she's here, I was worried I couldn't find her, etc. She is totally unfazed by the situation, has no idea why I am totally panicked. You know what she says?? She "needed a necklace mommy to match my nightgown so I can be sparkly Hannah Montana"! She went to the jewelry section for a necklace that really matched the nightgown! Again, she's 2! Oh my! We have our hands full! (She even asks me to curl her hair, and to repaint her finger nails when they have chipped, she hates it when her nails are "messed up". )

David turned 28 on Tuesday. We brought him breakfast in bed and let him sleep in a little. He went to a really nice salon for a hair cut and scalp massage. And it really was worth the extra money, his hair does look cool. The 4 of us went out for lunch and then saw "Horton Hears a Who". So cute, take your kids! We met up with friends and family for dinner at the Golden Corral, great place for those kids that are picky eaters since there is such a variety. And then some family came over for cake and presents, with a game of Risk that lasted until after midnight. He had a fun day. And this week has been heaven compared to last week!

What is your husbands name? David Dewitt Kipp

How long have you been together? We have been married for 6 years this year, but we met 10 years ago.

Who said I love you first? David said it first, on February 4, 2002 during our road trip/ marathon date. (Can't believe that I still remember the exact date!)

Who is smarter? Depends on the subject, he is better with political history (obviously), I'm better with math.

Who does the housework? I do most of it, however, he will do the dishes and vacuum without being asked a couple times a week. He's in charge of the outside stuff, like mowing the lawn and taking out the garbage. I will give him credit though, he will do anything he is asked without any complaints!!

Who sleeps on the right? I have slept on the right side from day one, for no reason in particular. (Funny how that has stuck all these years)

Who pays the bills? I make the payments, but he's the money maker!

Who cooks dinner? I do, especially now that he works at night. David does like to make spaghetti sometimes, and has no problem throwing a frozen lasagna or dino nuggets in the oven!

Who drives when you are together? David drives most of the time but I will every now and again. (After the freeway car accidents, I can't say that I enjoy driving anymore.)

Who is more stubborn? Generally speaking, I think I am, but he definitely has things he won't budge on.

Who kissed who first? He kissed me after I dared him to kiss someone during "Truth or Dare" when we were 18. Who would have thought that "Truth or Dare" would have ended up in marriage?! We love that story, we still laugh about that night.

Who asked out who first? He asked me out first. We had plans in Salt Lake City and we borrowed my friend's car, since neither one of us owned a car at the time, and wouldn't you know it broke down when we reached the University Mall! So I think we ended up back at my apartment to watch movies.

Who proposed? David proposed to me in San Francisco at the Presedio, on a dock, over the Bay, with a perfect view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the city, just after sunset on March 22, 2002. It was a surprise and it was perfect!

Who has more siblings? David does. He has 3 sisters and 3 brothers. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Who wears the pants? I think we take turns as far as who takes the lead in certain situations. We talk about everything though, so we are always on the same page.

The Alanis Morissette & Matchbox 20 Concert

Last Thursday, March 6, David and I went to the Alanis Morisette & Matchbox 20 concert. This was my Christmas present and we have been anticipating this event for a few months. We had a great time. It was so much fun! The concert was everything we hoped it would be and more, worth every penny. It was amazing to hear Alanis sing "Ironic" live after singing that song hundreds of times in the last 10 years. The last concert I saw was actually Matchbox 20 when I was at BYU. So it was cool to hear them again. This was David's first concert, ever. It was a 4 hour concert, including the opening band, Mute Math. We had fantastic seats which made the concert even more enjoyable. We were in the center of row 7, on the floor, so close to the stage! I can't believe how close we were to all of it. We could see every expression on their faces perfectly. As we walked all the way down to the front, an event employee checked our tickets and said, "You must have connections", and I smiled, thinking to myself, "No just a very resourceful husband". It was fabulous to be out for the night, as a couple, feeling as young as we actually are!

It's True!

A friend of mine recently informed me of an Artisan Bakery & Cafe in American Fork called Flour Girls & Dough Boys. Our family went there today for lunch. The word that first came to mind when I walked through their doors was charming. Loved the cozy atmosphere and the mouth watering smell of fresh bread. I am picky about bread and I tell you this bakery lives up to everything that has been said about their food. The sandwiches are great. The desserts are to die for! I loved their chandeliers and their cute cafe chairs, not to mention their leather arm chairs on either side of their electric fireplace. They have a kids play kitchen with all the toy food and accessories so they can practice becoming little chefs as they wait for their food. Truthfully what I was most impressed with was that Eva Cassidy was playing from their iPod through their speakers as we sat at our table. I love her music! Any restaurant who plays her jazz will always get an A+ in my book. (So thanks friend, it was incredible!)

Things That Make You Go Hmmm...

I get migraines fairly often, at least since I moved to Utah. However, every couple of months I get what is known as a "complex migraine". This is the worst migraine possible, unbreakable by usual prescription medication, all symptoms intensified, and lasts for days! So I got a complex migraine last Friday night. By Monday I went to my doctor (I thought my head was going to explode!) to get the two shots that will finally knock it out, and me as well. (I slept for 17 hours after those shots!) My doctor also gets migraines and so does the other doctor in their practice. I was also the 3rd patient that day to come in with a complex migraine. All of our migraines started on the same day! And one of my neighbor's told me tonight that the same thing happened to her! We all live in different cities, are different ages, and this happened to both men and women. This really makes me wonder... what is going on in Utah's environment?

The Perfect Lunch

Yesterday, my sister and I took the kids out for lunch to a restaurant Aidan has been begging to eat at all week, "Joe's Shrab Cack", as the kids refer to it. I guess it can be a bit of a tongue twister for young children. The restaurant closest to us is in Sandy. They have an indoor playground. So we ended up staying there for 3 hours!! It was a rainy Saturday, my favorite kind of day. The restaurant was slow so they didn't care that we had been there for so long. And I felt that I had an afternoon out with my sister, a rare opportunity that I do not take for granted. We were able to talk... in entire sentences! The kids had a fabulous time. It was nice for them to have the indoor playground and the food sure beats McDonald's! And what could be better than chocolate cake and Bananas Foster to end our dining experience? Needless to say our server was well tipped for our laid back afternoon, because that kind of atmosphere and service almost never happen.
